Life
Life insurance offers financial security for loved ones left behind in the event of a death. It is important to determine what benefit level will allow for the family to remain financially stable. The cost of premiums is based on factors such as age, gender, medical history and the amount of life insurance selected. Some policies may require a medical exam before premiums are established.
Disability
Disability insurance replaces a portion of wages when an individual is unable to work because of injury or illness. There are two major types of disability coverage:
Short term disability provides income for a short duration. Short-term disability insurance is covered by the state of California and is often supllemented as an employee benefit.
Long term disability helps replace income for an extended period of time, usually ending when the disabled person reaches normal retirement age. Long term disability may be provided by an employer or purchased individually.
